Lymphoma Workshop

Sunday 11 November 2007

Topics: Grey zone around diffuse large B-cell lymphoma

Goals and Case Priorities

The goals of the Workshop are to develop criteria to recognize tumours with overlapping features between diffuse large B-cell lymphomas and other entities and determine its impact on the diagnosis and management of the patients. The workshop will try to improve the definition of these entities, clarify its possible relationship and define criteria for the differential diagnosis between the different entities.

The workshop will call for cases that may help to advance our knowledge on these situations including tumours with overlapping features between DLBCL and Burkitt’ lymphoma, classical Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), or nodular lymphocyte predominant HL (NLPHL), T-cell rich B-cell lymphoma and DLBCL or NLPHL, Large B-cell lymphoma with aberrant T-cell phenotype or bi-genotypic tumours, and large B-cell proliferations associated with EBV infection, among others. Well documented cases that may illustrate the overlapping features of these entities and clarify aspects for a better understanding of its diagnosis and clinical impact will be welcome. Submission of transformed lymphomas is discouraged.

Case submission information

One case per participant may be submitted.

To have the case evaluated by the Panel, each submitter should fill in the form, upload ppt file as mentioned below (*) and send 10 H&E, 15 unstained sections, and, if possible, paraffin-block. In addition, they are asked to send the most important immunostained sections on which the diagnosis was based. When sufficient material is available and the case accepted, the submitter is expected to mail 110 additional H&E-stained sections for active participants to disseminate to.

The case should be provided with a powerpoint file (*) containing the clinical data summary, 2 H&E (low and high power) and no more than 10 additional images (including immunohistochemistry, flow-cytometriy, FISH, molecular biology, etc.).

To satisfy “privacy” regulations, please, do not indicate the nature of the submitter, the original case registration number, any patient’s identifying data and the proposed diagnosis, in the powerpoint file uploaded.

All submitted cases will be reviewed and 100 will be selected. Case presentation by participants will be performed orally with digital projection.

Each one of the active participants will be granted with a histological slide box. All participants will be given a workshop book and a CD.

Acceptance notifications will be mailed not later than May 31, 2008.

Please send the case slides material and the case description (Lymphoma Workshop form bellow) to the following adress:
